Important Customs Information for Customers in the USA

We are a Swedish company, and all our products are designed in Sweden. However, manufacturing takes place in the EU, India, and China.

Due to recent changes in U.S. import regulations — specifically the removal of the De Minimis exemption — shipments sent from Sweden to customers in the United States may be subject to import customs duties.

Please note the following:

  • Customs duties are not included in the purchase price and are not controlled or collected by our company at the time of purchase.

  • These duties are calculated and charged by U.S. Customs upon entry into the country.

  • By checking the box "I Agree – Terms and Conditions" at checkout, you acknowledge and accept that:

    • You, the customer, are responsible for understanding and paying any applicable customs duties.

    • These charges are your sole responsibility and are not refundable by us.

If you complete a purchase and accept these terms, you cannot cancel your order or request a refund after the shipment has left our warehouse.

If you choose not to pay the customs duties:

  • Your shipment may either be returned to us or destroyed by U.S. Customs.

  • You may request a refund for the product value only (excluding shipping) once the return is received and processed.

  • You will be responsible for all shipping costs, including the original shipping to the U.S. and the return shipping to our warehouse.

We strongly recommend that you check your country’s import duty policies before placing an order.

1. Introduction

1.1 These Terms of Purchase ("Terms") govern your purchases from www.hanataba.co and related platforms. By completing a purchase, you enter into a contract with Hanataba AB, a Swedish company (organization number 556478-4907) located at Köpmannagatan 23 A, 24565 Hjärup, Sweden ("Hanataba," "we," or "us").

2. Agreement and Orders

2.1 Hanataba accepts orders from consumers only. If you are working for a company or reseller and would like to purchase from Hanataba, please contact our customer service.

2.2 By placing an order, you agree to these Terms. You must be of legal age and able to enter into a binding agreement, i.e., not under guardianship.

2.3 After completing your order, you will receive an email receipt confirming the order submission. This receipt does not indicate the completion of the contract. A binding contract is created only when we send a final order confirmation email. We reserve the right to cancel your order if there are issues such as incorrect details, fraud suspicion, or stock unavailability.

3. Pricing and Payment

3.1 The price listed at the time of placing your order is the applicable product price.

3.2 Important note: Import Duties and Taxes
If you order from outside the European Union (EU), import duties, taxes, or any other charges are not included in the checkout shipping cost. Customers are responsible for researching and understanding import regulations and additional costs in their destination country. By confirming your order, you accept full responsibility for these costs. If the shipment is refused due to unpaid duties or taxes, it will be returned to us, and a refund minus the return shipping and an administrative fee of USD 20 will be processed.

3.3 If we discover an error in the price or product information after your order is placed, we will contact you. If the mistake is obvious and you should have known it was incorrect, the stated price will not apply.

3.4 Payment methods vary, and you can choose from the options available at checkout. Additional charges may apply depending on the chosen method. We and our payment partners reserve the right to alter available payment methods.

3.5 If you pay using an international payment card, the amount will be reserved immediately. The payment is held on your card until either we charge the amount upon dispatch or it is released according to your card issuer's rules.

4. Gift Cards and Store Credit

Hanataba gift cards are valid for one year and can be used as payment on the Website.

5. Shipping and Delivery

5.1 Products are delivered according to the method you select at checkout. Delivery options and costs are available on the Website and during checkout.

5.2 The expected delivery time is stated on the Website and the order confirmation, though it may vary depending on the chosen delivery method. Normal delivery times for our current shipping options Postnord, DHL, and DB Schenker are typically 5–7 business days. Delays may occur during for example high-volume periods.

5.3 Ownership and risk pass to you upon receiving the products. If you agree to have the products left outside your door, you are considered to have received the products once the delivery is confirmed by the distributor’s GPS or image verification. After receipt, you are responsible if the parcel is stolen.

6. Uncollected Packages

We may charge a 20 USD fee to cover return shipping costs if the package is not collected. You are responsible for collecting your package according to the delivery instructions. Packages that are not picked up within the specified time will be returned to our warehouse.

7. Offers and Discount Codes

We may periodically offer promotions and discount codes. These are valid for the period specified and as long as stock lasts. Offers cannot be combined unless it's explicitly stated in the Website.

8. Right of Withdrawal and Returns

8.1 You have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the product, as per EU consumer protection laws.

8.3 When exercising your right of withdrawal, you can open the product packaging to inspect it, but if the product is handled beyond reasonable testing, we may reduce the refund amount. We will refund the entire amount minus shipping costs.

8.5 How to Return
To return an item, contact Hanataba's customer service for instructions. Unapproved returns may not be accepted. Once approved, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs. A full refund will be issued after we receive and inspect the returned item in its original condition. We recommend using traceable shipping methods and retaining the tracking information. We aim to process refunds within 30 days of receiving the return.

9. Complaints

If you find a defect with your product, please contact customer service and provide a clear image or video of the defect. Hanataba will attempt to resolve the issue by repairing or replacing the item. If that is not possible, a refund will be issued. Hanataba is not responsible for return shipping costs for claims. In the event of a dispute, we comply with decisions made by the Swedish National Board for Consumer Complaints.

10. Hanataba's Obligations

10.1 If there is a defect in your product or a delivery delay, we are liable for damages as per consumer protection laws. However, we are not liable for damages you could have reasonably avoided.

10.2 We are not liable for damages caused by unforeseen events such as wars or natural disasters (Force Majeure). However, you have the right to cancel your purchase as per consumer protection law.
