Ever wondered how florists create perfectly balanced bouquets, every single time?
With Hanataba, you already have the tool. Now it’s time to use it with confidence.
This guide is for you who already own a Hanataba Bouquet Twister or for you who are curious but not quite sure how to get the most out of it.
What’s included - and why it matters
You receive two Hanatabas:
• Small - holds up to 7 stems
• Large - holds up to 17 stems
If your stems are thin, you can fit even more. Don’t be afraid to experiment - the holes are more flexible than they look.
Each size comes with a silicone disc. Place it underneath the Hanataba, aligning it with the holes. This prevents thin stems from slipping through and makes it easier to build fuller bouquets.
Inside the Hanataba box you’ll find a QR code. Scan it to access a step-by-step video tutorial whenever you need guidance.
You also receive a Stem Checker. Bring it with you to the flower shop to check whether stems will fit your Hanataba. You can always trim stems thinner, but the tool makes the process quicker and easier.
Most flowers fit perfectly. Very thick stems, such as sunflowers or tulips, are not recommended.
Step 1 - Choose your flowers
Start by selecting the flowers you want for your bouquet. Bring your Stem Checker if you want to be sure they’ll fit.
Turn this into a small adventure. Wild grasses, pampas, wheat and branches often work beautifully. When that’s not possible, flowers from a florist work just as well.
Step 2 - Start small
Begin with the small Hanataba. It’s easier to handle and perfect for your first bouquet. Once you feel comfortable, move on to the large one for a fuller arrangement.
Attach the small silicone disc underneath and align the holes so your stems can pass through smoothly.
Step 3 - Adjust your Hanataba
If you’re using Hanataba Crystal Clear, align the arrows on the lid and base, then twist to adjust.
For all other colours: make sure the Hanataba is fully closed. Then twist the lid a quarter turn until the small and large holes align.
Step 4 - Build your bouquet
Start with one stem in the center hole, then work your way outward.
Use filler flowers generously, especially with thinner stems. Baby’s breath, limonium, clematis, thlaspi, eucalyptus, ruscus, ferns and thin branches work particularly well.
For extra volume, gather a few grasses at different heights and lightly tape them at the bottom. Insert them as one unit, then remove the tape.
Step 5 - Finish and lock it in
Once all stems are in place, trim them so the bouquet can stand on its own, or place it in a bowl with water.
Finally, twist the lid back into place, just like closing a glass jar.
This is the first step toward creating your own floral arrangements at home, just like our 50,000+ customers worldwide.
